
Our Mission
Breckinridge County United Economic Development strives to grow our county's economy and increase the standard of living for all of its citizens through the recruitment of new industry, the continued retention and expansion of our existing local businesses, and the promotion of entrepreneurship and small business development. We seek also to support initiatives regarding education, culture, civics, and public health, knowing that a healthy, well-educated, and engaged community is essential for long term economic stability.
Strategic Initiatives
- Invest in real estate for industrial development, so that we can improve our county’s inventory of available sites for prospective businesses.
- Continue building and improving a local existing business program.
- Support programs and initiatives that help cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit in the community.
- Partner with our schools, businesses, and other local organizations to promote workforce development and all forms of post-secondary education.
- Pursue targeted fundraising initiatives in order to grow Breckinridge United’s budget and allow for greater investment in our community.

Josh Calloway
Josh is a local minister and self-employed business consultant. He received his certification in Safety and Health through Eastern Kentucky University.

Superintendent, Breckinridge County Public Schools
Nick Carter
Nick became the superintendent of Breckinridge County School District in 2017. He is a graduate of Breckinridge County High School, received his Bachelor's, Masters, and Rank 1 from Western Kentucky University, and, in 2018, received his Doctorate of Education from Morehead State. He lives in Irvington with his wife Robin and his daughters, Hannah and Chesney.
"I truly believe Breckinridge County is a wonderful place to live and work. My desire to help improve our county is my main purpose for serving."

Joey Crist
Joey has been the owner of Crist Propane Services for 23 years. He received a vocational diploma from Breckinridge County High School.
"As a business owner, I'm used to accepting challenges and solving issues. Being a part of the economic development board allows me the opportunity to help others with the same challenges that all new businesses face."

Jerry founded Commonwealth Machining in February of 1993. He is a 1984 graduate of Breckinridge County High School and Vocational School.

Superintendant, Cloverport Independent School District
Keith Haynes
Keith became the Superintendent of the Cloverport Independent School District in October 2015. He received his Bachelor's degree from Brescia University and his Master's degree from Western Kentucky University.
"Our goal is to bring enhanced opportunities to Breckinridge County to provide the highest standard of living to the Cloverport community and CISD graduates

Breckinridge County Judge-Executive
Maurice Lucas
Judge-Executive Maurice Lucas is a Breck County native and a graduate of Breckinridge County High School. He was the owner of Lucas Brother's Hardware for 29 years and has been the Judge-Executive since 2010.
"Economic development is vital to all communities including ours. I have been involved with the state economic development team and want Breck County to be an option in their minds when a company is interested in locating in our state."

Principal, Breckinridge County Area Technology Center
Emma Martin
Emma became principal at the Breckinridge County Area Technology Center in 2018, after teaching at the Breckinridge County Middle School for six years. She studied Middle Grades Education at Kentucky Wesleyan College and has received her Masters in Education and her Educational Specialist Degree in School Administration from the University of the Cumberlands. She lives in Breckinridge County with her husband, Dustin, and their son, Larson.
"Economic Development is important to me because we need to work to provide a better quality of life for our citizens in Breckinridge County. Young adults are putting their knowledge and skills to work in surrounding counties due to the limited number of opportunities available. By investing in our county, we are investing in our future!"

Ron O'Donoghue
Ron was born and raised in Breckinridge County and continues to reside here with his wife Tessa and his children, Ethan, Chloe, and Claire. Ron is a graduate of St. Romuald, the Breckinridge County Area Technology Center, and Ivy Tech. He serves on the ATC Advisory Council. He is also a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Ron has over 33 years of experience in responsive, innovative solutions to industrial equipment problems as a Machinist, Field Machinist, Industrial Electronics, Estimator, Applications Engineer, Business Owner, Engineering Supervisor, Sales & Engineering Manager and now serves as General Manager of the Press Division and the Field Service Group at Atlas Machine & Supply Inc. in Louisville Kentucky, one of the best family owned business in the United States. He has been with Atlas for over 15 years.

Meredith Dubree
Executive Director
Meredith joined the Breck United team on January 2, 2017. She is a graduate of Breckinridge County High School and Columbia University. Meredith loves her dogs, cats, and horses, as well as her University of Kentucky men's basketball team. If she's not at work, you can probably find her sitting out in the sun or by a fireplace with a book. She can be bribed with coffee.
